ABOUT THE TEAM
Manhattan Crew is a girls under 9 team. With a home field in Randall's Island, the team was formed in the fall of 2009 and plays in the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL). After a very successful start as a team in the fall 2009 season, Crew now plays in the WYSL U-10 division.
The team plays under the direction of coach Jessica Landau. Jes was born in Somers, New York where she played her first soccer match at age 4. At age 9 her family moved to Colorado Springs, CO where she continued to develop as a youth player. Playing for local clubs, she had the chance to play at the highest levels Colorado offered. Jessica was a four year letter winner for Cheyenne Mountain High School, and in her senior year she was Coach’s All League Second Team.
After graduating she attended the Savannah College of Art and Design, on a Presidential Scholarship to play for Coach Andy Williamson. She graduated Sum cum Laude in Fiber Arts. Senior year she started her career in coaching as the Assistant Coach for the Women’s Varsity Soccer team at Groves High School in Garden City, Georgia.
After college graduation, Jes moved to New York City, where she continued to pursue coaching. In 2006 she coached her first team for Manhattan Soccer Club. Four years later she is still with MSC as the head coach of GU10 Monaco. This past fall she was named Academy Director for the GU9 program as well as the head coach for GU9 Crew.
Manhattan Soccer Club has become more than a job for Jes; it has also become her family. This past summer she married fellow Coach Ray Selvadurai.
